Isle Royale

I've just returned from a week-long backpacking adventure to Isle Royale National Park. I traveled with four other teachers from my school. We hiked for six days (45+ miles) in this upper peninsula wilderness island through muddy trails covered with roots and rocks. We saw beautiful wildflowers and lots of other plants. Unfortunately we didn't see much wildlife; I think we scared them away as we tended to talk while hiking and never got a real early start in the mornings. However, we did watch a fox walk slowly through a picnic area, and I was able to get pretty close to him to take a photo. I also had some interesting conversations with a sea gull and a red squirrel. Although some of the climbs were pretty difficult (especially with 45 pounds on your back), overall it was a great experience. I learned a lot about backpacking, formed closer bonds with my colleagues/friends, and experienced some of God's beautiful creation!!

New Blog

I'm taking a computer class called "Google Tools for Educators" and one of the things we're learning about is blogging. So I've decided to try it ... at least for a while! I'll try to post weekly during the summer while I have some time and we'll see how it goes!
